Carrick 18th in Best 100 towns and cities

Carrick-on-Shannon has been ranked the 18th best town in the country according to a Retail Excellence Ireland survey.

The survey which named the best 100 towns and cities in Ireland gave Westport the title of Ireland’s best town; while Kilkenny is Ireland’s best city.

The survey, which comprised of 16,000 citizen and stakeholder (business owner) interviews in 100 towns and cities throughout Ireland, is the largest town and city survey ever undertaken in Ireland.

Significant investments have been made in Carrick-on-Shannon in recent years with the town consistently improving on its Tidy Towns results.

The local Chamber of Commerce has been especially active, launching a dedicated website mycarrick.ie and working to promte the town and its businesses.

Preparations are also well underway for the 400th anniversary celebrationis of the town in 2013.
