Approximately 15 people die out of hospital every day in Ireland from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). Research has shown that 50% - 60% of these deaths could be avoided if CPR and use of defibillater had been initiated within the first 3-5mins of collapse. So in order to increase survival rates it is imperative that communities are equipped and prepared to respond in the event of a person with SCA.

Having a defibillator (AED) and volunteers trained in CPR and in the use of AED could mean the difference between saving the life of someone close to you or not.

With this in mind there are now have four defibillator’s - Dromahair, Newtownmanor, Ballingar and Kilcoosey - and over 50 volunteers trained and regularly updated.
