The new extension to Bornacoola Community Centre was officially opened on Sunday last, December 8.
This large extension consists of a large open plan room made up of a fully fitted kitchen, games area and a computer suite with a toilet leading off this and a large lounge in the overlooking mezzanine area upstairs.
This ‘state-of-the Art’ extension was the result of the need for extra space in the Centre due to the large membership of Bornacoola Youth Club, one of the most active youth clubs in Connacht.
The work was financed by fundraising by the hardworking leaders and members of Bornacoola Youth Club, assisted by funds from Bornacoola Community Development Association and a generous grant from Leitrim Development Company which made the development possible.
Fr Gerry O’Brien PP Bornacoola blessed the new extension and Geraldine Moran one of the original Youth Club leaders cut the ribbon.
Attending the opening on Sunday were the members of Bornacoola Community Development Association and Bornacoola Youth Club members, their leaders and parents.
Representatives from the many parish organisations which use the Community Centre also attended along with many of the County Councillors for the area.
