Celebrate Diversity in Sligo with Cáirde

The Cairde Festival is Sligo’s annual arts festival celebrating diversity. The festival runs until Saturday, July 8 with an excellent range of music, theatre, dance, children’s and family events, visual art and more.

Wednesday and Thursday brings puppet fun for kids and Saturday tops off the kid’s entertainment with a site specific inter-active children’s theatre promenade The Stolen Child at 2 and 4pm. Adults will enjoy Sketches of Mexico offers Classical Guitar from Morgan Szymanski on Wednesday, Jimmy Gralton’s Dancehall on Thursday at St Annes, The Swagman on Friday at 8pm and the festival highlight: two inspirational musicians Yungchen Lhamo and Liam O’Maonlaiat the Hawk’s Well Theatre on Saturday night July 7. Cook up a storm in Strokestown Park House

Join Martin Donohoe the Cavan man when he will be cooking up a storm for the Reel Thing sa cistin summer session with a real All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil Show which takes place in the galley kitchen Strokestown Park House this Thursday July 5 at 8pm. Joining Martin Donohoe, accordion player Seamus Fay, Kavan Donohoe Harp /Uileann Pipes, Sean Owens Singer and flute player, Joao Soares on Mandolin from Portugal, Storytellers and yarn spinners Eamonn Maguire and Liam Butler, Noel Sweeney on flute, Gerry Gorman on accordion, John O Sullivan fiddle, Savannah Donohoe on flute saxophone and Darren Maloney on Banjo.
