The Carrick on Shannon branch of the Leitrim Youth Theatre will present Heroin Lies by Wayne Denfhy as its spring production.

The group has been hard at work preparing the play over the last number of months and rehearsals are now in full swing.

The play itself is a sensitive, yet disturbing, look at drug dependency and in particular the pressures and influences at play on young people.

Under the direction of Catherine Sheridan LYTC Carrick will relate the story of the central character Vicki.

“Vicki is an ordinary girl. She’s no troublemaker, runaway, truant or secret smoker - well, not at first.

“She’s got an untidy bedroom, loves music and boys, though there’s nobody serious at the moment and most of all she enjoys a good laugh with her mates.

“You can’t really get away from it, Vicki is an ordinary teenager and it’s that that makes her story so frightening.”

The play promises to be another moving and thought provoking production from our young performers, and not to be missed!

Heroin Lies opens on Friday 1st and continues on Saturday 2nd February.

Both shows are a 8.30pm and admission is €10.

Tickets are available from the box office on 071 96 50828 or on line at www.thedock.ie .

This production is made possible through the continuing support of Leitrim County Council and The Arts Council.
