Rainwater harvesting course at the Organic Centre
The Organic Centre, Rossinver is running a Rainwater Harvesting Systems 1-day course this Sunday, June 10 from 10am to 4pm. The course will be delivered by Ollan Herr, a water engineer and designer of ecological and passive water systems.
Water charges are on the way and rainwater harvesting systems will become more and more useful and cost effective. Ollan will introduce various systems that minimize the need for pumps, ultra violet radiation or chlorination. He will look at retrofitting of existing houses for gravity rainwater systems and discuss filter systems.
Local Authority Regulations, a maintenance and inspection program and grey water treatment on site for reuse for toilets and outdoor washing will also be discussed.
Ollan says: “The secret is to keep it simple. I think there is a growing interest in rainwater harvesting that relies on gravity and that minimizes too much engineering such as pumps and ultra violet lights and I do offer a day’s training on this.”
