Thousands of music fans have been treated to an audio-visual extravaganza in a London square by one of the dance world's biggest stars.

Canadian DJ Deadmau5 put on the gig in Flat Iron Square to celebrate the launch of the Nokia Lumia smartphone.

And while 500 people were invited to the bash, thousands more showed up to watch the DJ perform in this trademark mouse head.

The 31-year-old, with the help of the stunning light show, brought the area to life with his electro-house music.

As he played his heart out from the rooftop of a building, a team of engineers transformed the street into a kaleidoscope of colours

The gig marked the arrival of the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 in stores across the UK this month.

It followed last year's Lumia 800 event which saw the DJ bring Millbank Tower alive with a 4D light show in front of hundreds of screaming fans.

The DJ said: "Playing Millbank Tower was an incredible experience, so its great to be back in London to team up with Nokia again. The new show was a totally different concept from last year, but equally inspiring and technically challenging."

Conor Pierce, Nokia vice-president, added: "We see the Lumia 920 as one of the most exciting phones we have launched at Nokia, it includes some truly ground-breaking innovations: Wireless charging, a screen that automatically adjusts its colour and brightness, depending on sunlight, a touchscreen that even works when you're wearing gloves and best of all it's a beautiful device; like the 'This is Lumia' event the 920 looks just awesome."

At last year's event at Millbank Tower, an unexpected 18,000 people showed up - causing travel chaos as the venue was only announced online at the last minute.
