Carrick Film Society is showing ‘Goodbye First Love’ this Thursday, March 14, in Carrick Cineplex.
Goodbye First Love is a 2011 Franco German film directed by Mia Hansen-Løve. Filled with scenes that showcase the director’s extraordinary ability to evoke moods and feelings, Hansen-Løve takes the story of a girl’s first romance and makes it into a singular experience, familiar in its broad strokes and yet so specific that it feels uniquely personal.
This is Hansen-Løve’s second film and it is a clever, persuasive examination of the meaning of first love - with a clear streak of autobiography. Heartbroken young love is the most intense kind, perhaps the only authentic kind. And you will never forget it and never entirely get over it.
This is an outstanding film, where the euphoria and pain of love are starkly and beautifully revived. The film also benefits from outstanding performances from the lead players
All films are shown at Carrick Cineplex on Thursdays at 8.30pm. More information on (086) 3856776.
