County Fleadh returns to Strokestown

This is thesecond consecutive year that the Fleadh has been held in Strokestown. A comprehensive programme has been put in place for the weekend to satisfy all preferences. On Saturday night 30th, a ceilli will be held in the Percy

French Hotel. Music on the night will be provided by Rise the Dust. On Easter Sunday, traditional dancing competitions will be held in Scoil Mhuire. The official opening will take place immediately after the Easter parade.

Michael Brennan, the Chairman of Comhaltas Connaught Council, will perform the honours. The Gradam Award will be presented to the County PRO and long serving member of the Strokestown Branch Con McGuire. Music, song and dance will then commence from the street dance floor. A concert on Sunday night will be held in the Percy French with the Mylurg Ceili Band and guests.

Competitions will be held throughout Easter Monday in Scoil Mhuire. Competitors from all over the county will vie for County titles and will go forward to represent their county at the Connacht Fleadh in Carrick-on-Shannon later in the year.
