To celebrate national heritage week, the Native Woodland Trust will be holding a children’s woodland story-telling workshop in Longford Town Library this Saturday 17 August from 11am to 1pm.

Through stories and fairy-tales children will learn about Ireland’s native trees and the folklore and mythology associated with them. Following the story-telling there will be woodland themed arts and crafts for the children to enjoy. This event will be a fun opportunity for children to learn about our woodland folklore and heritage and enjoy the fun of story-telling.

The Native Woodland Trust is an environmental charity dedicated to the protection of Ireland’s rare native and ancient woodland.

This is done through the establishment and protections of woodland reserves throughout Ireland, such as Farnaght Wood in County Leitrim. As part of our work we run guided educational walks, talks and fun events such as this one to raise awareness and get the local community involved.
