Country houses put spotlight on Roscommon culture

Next month, four Roscommon country houses are working together to highlight the importance for tourism, heritage and culture these properties can play.

Next month, four Roscommon country houses are working together to highlight the importance for tourism, heritage and culture these properties can play.

It all kicks off at King House this Sunday, June 3rd at 1pm with The Speks, a traditional music band for kids, admission charge is €5. Call 071 9663242 for more details. Bank Holiday Monday, June 4th sees an afternoon harp recital take place with Theresa O’Donnell in Castlecoote House at 3pm. Admission charge is €5, call 0906 663794. The following weekend, Saturday June 9th at 2pm, Clonalis House will play host to a talk presented by Dr Kieran O’Connor, Dept of Archaeology at NUI Galway on Anglo Norman Castles of Roscommon. On Sunday, June 10th at 3pm Strokestown Park House will play host to a dramatic recital of two voices entitled “Hunger”. Admission charge is also €7, call 071 9633013.
