THE Emerald Revellers host a big night of traditional Irish music, song and dance for Mother’s Day and for early St. Patrick’s day celebrations in the Raddison Hotel, Sligo on Sunday, March 10 at 8pm.
This group are well known within traditional circles to put on a top class show to suit all tastes. We find it fitting that on this occasion the Emerald Revellers are performing as a fundraising venture for nine dancers from the Siobhan Mc Donnell school of Irish dancing: Aaron Gordon (Sligo), Romai Mc Morrow (Leitrim), Niamh Fitzgearld (Sligo), Eimear Kelly (Leitrim), Ciara O’Neil (Leitrim), Orlaith Kernian (Sligo), Eoghan O’Neil (Leitrim), Niamh Rooney (Mayo) and Amy Monaghan Sligo) who have qualifed for the World Dancing Championships.
The Championships are being held in Boston USA this year and unlike other sports there are no grants or funding available to these nine dancers who are representing their county, province and country.
The experience of this as you can imagine is massive so the Emerald Revellers have decided to help. These dancers work very hard with their teachers Siobhan and Danielle to get to this high level and it would terrible if they could not travel and make themselves and county proud.
So come and enjoy a great night of top drawer Irish entertainment and at the same time supportyour local dancers in their ventures in the World Dancing Championships.
