Mary O’Rourke, Michael Harding, Brian Leyden, Roland Monsegu, Tarquin Blake and Triona Mullaney Dignam will all be in Boyle during the next ten days as part of the 24th annual Boyle Arts Festival that runs from July 25- August 3.
The Festival’s spoken word & literature programme starts off with a talk by artist, Eileen McDonagh and Thomas Ryan PPRHA (Past president of RHA) in King House on July 26.
Writer and playwright Michael Harding will read on July 2. The Moylurg Writers celebrate their silver anniversary with an enchanting night of poetry, prose and song. The results of the recent BAF Poetry Competition will be announced by writer Geraldine Mills on July 28. Renowned writer, Brian Leyden drops by for a reading in the Presbyterian Church on Monday July 29 and former deputy Fianna Fáil leader, Mary O’Rourke will read in the Church of Ireland on July 30.
The Drama programme jumps into action with the vivacious ‘A Wine Goose Chase’, in Daly’s Bar at 6.30pm and 10pm on July 26. The ‘Clock Theatre Group’ present ‘Anyone Could Rob A Bank’ in St. Joseph’s Hall on July 27.The Fregoli Theatre Company present two performances of ‘Mosaic of Dreams’ in Daly’s Storehouse on July 28 & 29.On July 27 the King House auditorium is the venue for another screening of ‘Boyle – Through the Magic Lantern’ a 40 min film on life in Boyle in bygone days.
