This Friday, October 4 two exhibitions are taking place at the Solas Gallery in Ballinamore that have an interesting connectivity and yet visually are very different.

“Universe Within” by Tommy Flynn and “Irish Life” by Marie Lee will emphasise the different styles of painting available from two well known local artists. Both artists live in the area, Tommy was a pupil of Marie Lees and had subsequently opened her last exhibition, yet in spite of the connection their work in entirely different.

As a school teacher Marie integrated art into her schedules, Tommy being one of the many to benefit from this. Having now retired, she has at last had time to put together this lovely collection of approximately 20 paintings of land and seascapes. Her soft tones, mastery of clouds and skies in all their moods, give an immense sense of the peace and tranquillity that is still to be found in the area.

Tommy’s work on the other hand is busy, full of energy and colour. As an architect, Tommy has used his artistic abilities in progressive but perhaps formal lines, as an artist his work has grown and changed, an occasional landscape; representations of architectural designs; experimenting with life and feelings. The exhibition will be opened by another popular and well known artist, Colleen Quinn. Exhibition will continue until the 26th October. The gallery is above the Four Seasons Garden Centre, Ballinamore. For any further information please contact Gail or Ben at 071 9644210, www.solasart.ie or follow us on Facebook.
