Over the past 100 years Mohill Town provided entertainment of the highest quality so it is great to see this tradition continue.
The Red Squirrel Productions under the direction of Tish Dunleavy and Frank Cadam are delighted to introduce The Red Squirrel Company.
The company comprises of three very well known performing groups; Sweet Spirit Gospel Choir, The County Leitrim Percy French Performing Group and the Sliabh an Iarainn Players.
The great Percy French performed in Mohill many times, in factone his last performances was in the Hunt Hall.
We can go back as far as 1911 and find a production of “Mrs Willis Will”, throughout the 1920’s ,30’s,40’s. The pantomines, staged in the 80’ and 90,s are fondly remembered, many of these productions had Tish Dunleavy both on stage and offstage as Musical Director.
This May Bank Holiday weekend, Hunt Hall will once again see three nights of top class entertainment.
Percy French will return to the town and this time he will bring the great “Beautiful Dreamer” Stephen Foster to Mohill. The night will include songs written by Percy French and Stephen Foster and both men will compare and contrast their compositions!
The May weekend will kick off with a tribute to the late Master JJ Kelly from Mohill.
There will numerous other events including various productions by the Sliabh an Iarainn Players. One of these productions will be a one act play written by the late Master JJ Kelly. Members of the Percy French Performing group will also perform some sketches.
The Sliabh an Iarainn Players are already in rehearsals with the great John B. Keane play “Big Maggie “. This will be hitting the stage in late March.
The John B Keane play has everything from comedy to conflict, dark secrets to declarations of love.
The cast, who are come from all over South Leitrim are some of the most experienced around.
