Longford Summer Festival returns on July 3-5 and one of the highlights will be the extensive Food Fair and Artisan Area, which will cover the picturesque five acre site at the old army barracks in the heart of the town.
This element of the event will run from 11am to 6pm on the Saturday and Sunday with close to 100 stalls on show. In addition to the Food Fair, there is also an extensive Home & Garden section; a Lifestyle Quarter and a Fashion District.
Throughout the day there are also extensive dining options and two bars including a delightful wine bar.
There is also live music on two stages throughout the day as well as several workshops and topical talks.
The entire event is completely family focused and the biggest attraction of the weekend will undoubtedly be the dedicated children’s park which promises to be a magical escape for the little people.
The zone will be divided into three areas with an array of attractions as well as a petting farm and also two great live shows both days.
The Fashion District will be one of the most popular sections in the tented village, featuring tips and advice as well as fashion shows featuring the latest styles and trends from several leading retailers. It promises to be a memorable occasion for the fashion conscious.
One of the biggest and most sought out sections will be the Home & Garden area with great advice and the latest gadgets for the house and garden. In addition there will also be a number of gardening talks over the two days.
The Lifestyle area showcases the many alternatives out there to ensure optimum health as well as looking at new sports clubs and opportunities.
One of the highlights of the Food Fair and Artisan Area will be Gary O’ Hanlon, who is the head chef on the popular TV show, The Restaurant. He is also Head Chef at Viewmount House, Longford. Also Louise Lennox is probably Ireland’s favourite pastry chef and one of Gary O’Hanlon’s co-stars from The Restaurant and will share her favourite recipes.
At night-time the big marquee will come alive with several top acts The High Kings, Nathan Carter, Frances Black, Sharon Shannon and Mary Coughlan.
