Keadue Summer School

The O’Carolan Summer School in Traditional Irish Music, Song, Set Dancing and Sean Nos Dancing will take place in Keadue from Monday July 30.

The O’Carolan Summer School in Traditional Irish Music, Song, Set Dancing and Sean Nos Dancing will take place in Keadue from Monday July 30.

Students attending the classes can avail of the following workshops: Harp, Flute, Tin Whistle Fiddle, Banjo, Button Accordion, Concertina, Bodhran, Traditional Singing, Set Dancing and Sean Nos Dancing.

Tutors for this year are: Grainne Hambley, Dearbhail Finnegan, Holly Geraghty, Michael Hurley, Dave Sheridan, Junior Davey, John Regan, Colm Greene, Padraig Sweeney, Lorraine Sweeney, Fiona Lavin, Irene Guckian, Bernie Geraghty, Mai Hernon, Roisin and Padraig McEneany and Padraig O’Hoibicin.

A number of music and singing competitions will also take place during the Summer School. A youth recital organiseed by Paraic Sweeney will take place on Thursday August 2 at 2.30pm, where students attending the various classes will perform. This will be followed later on in the evening by a concert of Traditional Music ,Song and Dance given by the tutors with the one and only Eugene Murphy as MC. The concert starts at 8.30pm. A number of Ceili’s and Music Sessions will also take place throughout the week featuring The O’Carolan Country Ceili Band and Matt Cunningham.
