St. Mary’s Parish Church present country and gospel singer James Kilbane in concert at St Mary’s church, Mohill on Friday, February 26 at 8pm.
This will be Kilbane’s first concert visit to Mohill and this faith event is in support of recent Church development and restoration work.
St. Mary’s Church of Ireland church, Mohill has been a focus point for the community for the past two hundred years.
Built and completed in 1815 the parish celebrated its bicentenary last year in 2015. The site has a very long Christian history and been of religious importance to Mohill and the town surrounding land since early Christian times as the present church is built on earlier Christian settlements.
Work is and has been carried out by the parish community over the last year to upgrading the external surrounding grounds with tarmac. There has also been restoration work carried out to the church windows, doors and outside gates.
External walls were in need of pointing and this work has also been done and includes work to the clock tower.
St. Mary’s is a very historic site and maintenance to the church and site is ongoing and to help raise funds the parish are staging the Christian concert with popular country singer James Kilbane.
Since 2004 James Kilbane has become a popular voice on radio and television across the country with his country, gospel and faith based music.
With 12 albums to date released Kilbane will sing many of his popular songs and country gospel favourites at St. Mary’s.
