The second of the five autumn exhibitions at the Very Small Gallery in Carrick-on-Shannon opens this Friday, September 28. This is “Undoing”, a collection of paintings by Karen Tighe.

Karen works in mixed water media, video and digital photography, but for this exhibition she has produced a series of drawings in mixed water media. Karen feels that even in the West of Ireland we are surrounded, even bombarded with, an immense amount of images of many types, far too many in these times of stress. In the “Undoing”, Karen is responding to this with simplicity: Simple lines and images, some in monotone, others in rich muted colours showing the influence of the artists love of Italian culture and experience – the marble and mosaics of Rome and Ravenna and the masks of Venice.

These exhibitions are for the artists to show a small selection of their work and for the public to see a variety of different art forms during the winter. “Undoing “will open on on Friday at 5.30pm with a glass of wine or something and a chance to meet the artist. The exhibition will run until October 11 to be followed immediately by a show by Pauline Terry on October 12.
