O’Carolan Harp Festival

The recital will be given by All Ireland Winning Harpers Dearbhail Finnegan, Grainne Hambley & Holly Gerathy. This has become a very popular event over the past number of years during Summer School week so it is important that patrons come early as seating is limited.

Following the successful launch of the Festival in Kilronan Castle last Thursday night, where there was a big turn out of the media including Irish TV.ie which is going to film the entire Festival and Summer School. This will be shown on Sky Television, Showcase Channel 191.

The famous traditional group Shebeen are returning to play at the O’Carolan Harp Festival in Keadue on Sunday August 5 at 4.30pm.The group made up mainly of Sligo based musicians with accordion player Kevin O’Brien as leader was regarded as one of Irelands top traditional bands. Other members of the talented group included Keadue Flute player Tommie Guihen and Banjo player Pat Sweeney.

The well known Arigna Fuels Company is sponsoring the O’Carolan Harp Competitions once again to the tune of €2500 at the August Bank Holiday Festival in Keadue. The Harp Festival has now become a focal point for Harpists the world over. The open Harp Competition will be held on Saturday August 4th and the winner will take home a prize of €300 along with a Leitrim crystal trophy.
