Two new solo exhibitions will be opening this Friday, April 11 at the Solas Art Gallery in Ballinamore.
Both “Diminishing Eras” by Regina Magee and “ A Light Encounter” by Michael Hawthorne evoke the softness of early Spring days and bring back memories of times past.
“Diminishing Eras” by Regina Magee is a photographic documentary based on her emotional attachment to the past.
These images communicate the fact that life is not the same for everybody, and are a creative, personal and informative reference to a local lady from the artists locality. Regina lives near Belcoo, Co Fermanagh, the beautifully evocative images, taken and printed with great feeling, show a way of life that is fast disappearing.
Mike Hawthornes “A Light Encounter” tells an almost similar story in a different way.
A series of the most beautifully executed oil paintings of gentle landscapes, crossroads, summer shadows, seascapes, scenes that are fast disappearing as the needs of our modern lifestyle push ever further into our rural landscapes.
Mike lives near Castlerea in Co. Roscommon, inspired by the scenery of the West of Ireland.
His father was a monumental mason and encouraged his son to draw continually.
Why does he do it? “I paint and draw because I love it… the subject is irrelevant, the executed work is all and in the end the viewer decides”
These two lovely exhibitions will be opened at 7.30pm on this Friday by well known author, day writer and columnist, John Waters.
This will certainly make it an evening no to be missed, all are invited to attend.
The Gallery is above the Four Seasons Garden Centre in Ballinamore, opening Mon-Sat, 10-6pm.
