The Dock is pleased to present the work of two visual artists; John Brady and Maggie Madden in an exhibition that will open to the public on Friday, July 4 at 6pm.

John Brady is a native of Westport, County Mayo and a Lecturer in Fine Art at the Centre for Media and Fine Arts at GMIT in Galway and GMIT, Castlebar, where he founded the part-time course in painting and drawing.

Last year, John travelled around the globe, drawing all the while.  He posted 22 sketchbooks back to his home in Galway over the course of the year.

His show at The Dock is an enthralling exhibition of those drawings made during his journey across many different continents and countries informed by the people and cultures he encountered.

Maggie Madden is a artist from Connemara, Co Galway, currently living and working in Dublin. In Maggie Madden’s work, she uses an array of materials which she crafts into beautiful, fragile sculptures. The work is suggestive of architectural structures and reflects urban landscapes and the natural world.

The exhibition will be opened this Friday at 6pm and all are welcome to attend the opening reception. The exhibition will continue until Saturday, August 30. The galleries are open Monday to Friday 10am to 5.30pm and Saturday from 10am to 5.00pm. Admission is free.

The Dock will also offer an associated programme of additional arts events including a free art appreciation tour and discussion with our Curator Alice Lyons on Saturday July 5 and a day of drawing with Artist John Brady on Saturday July 12. For Booking or further information please contact The Dock 071 9650828
