Preparations are now nearing completion for what promises to be one of the biggest Connacht Fleadh’s ever. The Fleadh takes place on July 5 & 6 in Castlebar, Co Mayo.
Activities get under way on Monday 30th June with a lecture in the town library on “Uncovering the Past”.
Emma O Sullivan will continue with her Sean Nós Workshop on the Friday and this is already proving very attractive with lots of queries coming to the Fleadh committee. At 6pm the town will come to life with a street pageant in conjunction with the Mayo Arts Squad.
Competitions start at 10am on July 5th in Davitt College, Scoil Raifteirí and GMIT. Saturday also sees the Street Festival/ Croí Chaisleán an Bharraigh and the Four day walks continue.
Fleadh Competitions resume at 10am on July 6th and the afternoon will see live entertainment on the Gig Rig with a monster outdoor céilí in Hoban’s Car Park at 7pm.
Connacht Comhaltas fraternity, and indeed all Trad loving followers, can expect a huge welcome in Castlebar.
