Due to popular demand, Action School of Film have added an extra filmmaking course to their Summer schedule in Carrick-on-Shannon.

The courses, which are taking place in The Dock, are aimed at 12-18 year olds with an interest in film, storytelling, drama and visual media. On each course, participants create two short films which are then entered into film festivals throughout the
year.

Action School of Film’s (formerly North West Film School) Summer programmes have been running since 2009 and have been the focus of much attention as they have travelled the world with student films and won awards at prestigious international youth film festivals. Leitrim students are no strangers to the limelight. Their film ‘Repulsive’, which was made on last summer’s course, was awarded the ’RTÉ 60 second short’ this March and was broadcast on RTÉ Two’s Twotube. Past films made on Carrick summer courses have also travelled to international festivals in Berlin, Austria, Chicago and South Korea.

The new course to be added to the schedule are taking place from August 5-16 in The Dock. Bookings on www.actionfilm.ie or by calling 071 9650837.
