Leitrim Youth Theatre Company Carrigallen take to the stage with their ninth production this weekend.

This time a full production of “An Triail” by Maire Ni Ghrada, an English translation of the well known Irish leaving cert honours play “An Trial” The Play has a riveting story line. The play set in the early 1960’s Ireland, looks at Maura Cassidy, the protagonist from rural Ireland, encounter problems with a local school teacher, having to move to tenant Dublin, leading to a tragic ending.

There are courtroom scenes, witnesses, and their heartless cruelty, hypocrisy, prejudices and negligence’s are judged as the real cause of her crime. This production has stimulated great reaction from local secondary schools students and teachers. Early research from previous Leaving Cert students said they would benefit greatly from seeing an English version of the play to help them form a concrete understanding of the characters, themes, and the general plot.

The play is directed by Maura Williamson and will be performed at The Corn Mill Theatre this Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1 at 8.30pm doors open 8.00pm. Booking on 0494339612 group deals available.
