Carrick Film Society is showing ‘The Giants’ this Thursday, November 29 in Carrick Cineplex.
Directed by Bouli Lanners (Belgium), The Giants tells the story of teenage brothers Zak and Seth. Abandoned at their late grandfather’s house for the summer, the boys are left to their own devices.
With the endless possibilities of summer fun and adventure to be had in the idyllic Belgian countryside, they feel the world is their oyster. But when money runs short and with no help in sight, the boys decide to support themselves by renting the house to a local drugs’ dealer. Things don’t always go according to plan, however. Bouli Lanners’ coming-of-age tale is a lovely drunken roll of a movie, brightly played by its adolescent cast, luxuriating in a Belgian countryside of whispering grass and fairytale forests. Not to be missed. All films are shown at Carrick Cineplex on Thursdays at 8.30pm. Everyone welcome.
