The fate and fortune of regional sounds in traditional music have ebbed and flowed for generations dependent on who travelled where, who was recorded and who got played.

For heritage week, RTE producer and musicologist Harry Bradshaw brings the audience on a journey to discover the story of Leitrim music.

The night features the current Leitrim Equation group with guests John Lee, Seamus Maguire, Harry Bradley and Jesse Smith - four renowned musicians from other parts of Ireland and further afield drawn to the Leitrim style.

A night of live music mixed with stories and unique recordings rarely heard from the past two centuries, Harry and the eight musicians will show how music of Leitrim travelled around the world and back to source.

From Leitrim to the world and back - a traditional music journey will be performed at 8.30pm in The Dock Arts Centre, Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday, August 23.
