Tamboran Resources are holding off any recruitment and training until next year as their progress continues a “bit slower” than expected.
In February this year, the gas company had told the Leitrim Observer they would be creating at least ten local jobs in Leitrim by the end of this Summer. But the recruitment and training has been put off until next year as the company do not expect to drill test wells in the county until 2014.
A spokesperson for Tamboran Resources said they had expected to start drilling test wells locally in 2013, but “compliance with regulation” means it will be at least 2014 before they commence that work.
The spokesperson said the Irish Government are compiling a report on fracking by the end of the year and “further reports” from Tamboran are required. The “more paperwork” means that Tamboran have to slow down their progress. “There is no urgency, we want to satisfy public confidence and the Government’s requirements.”
Tamboran Resources said they are still “fully committed” to the gas project in North Leitrim and said they are “likely to start recruitment next year.”
