Bus Eireann are considering altering the Carrigallen - Longford bus route to include stops in the villages Dromod and Rooskey on Mondays.

Last week the Leitrim Observer reported that the national bus service company, Bus Eireann were considering proposals to reinstate at least one more route through Dromod and Rooskey.

Both villages used to have six services each way linking them to Longford Town and Carrick-on-Shannon but they were cut last October and just one was restored for early morning. Residents are unhappy with this and say the time of the reinstated service is too restrictive.

According to correspondence between Bus Eireann and Senator Paschal Mooney, Bus Eireann intends to “apply to the National Transport Authority to alter the existing route 464 Public Service Contract service operating between Carrigallen and Longford on Mondays. This change would include serving Dromod and Rooskey on Mondays at approximately 10.35 and giving a return service from Longford at 14.35.” Route 463 currently serves Aughavas, Ballinamuck, Cloone, Mohill, Aughnacliffe, Fearnought, Drumlish, Ennybegs and Killoe Chapel into Longford Town.

Bus Eireann also said it is aware that local people are looking for an additional route 23 express service in each direction to operate via Dromod and Rooskey.
