The site on Dromahair’s Main Street on which Shane Filan’s Shafin Ltd company was granted planning permission to demolish the existing premises and replace it with a supermarket has this week been put up for sale.

The decision to grant planning permission for the supermarket, gym and outdoor play area on the site of the Breffni Centre Hotel received plenty of local opposition but permission was ultimately granted by An Bord Pleanala.

The site was one of a number of property interests that Westlife singer Shane Filan, and his company purchased in the Dromahair area.

Shane Filan’s declaration for bankruptcy in Britain made him one of the most high profile victims of the property crash. It was reported that Shane and his brother Finbarr owe more than €5.5m to Bank of Ireland and Allied Irish Bank.
