Manorhamilton gets set for annual show

This Saturday, July 28th, 2012 will see Manorhamilton Show celebrate its 12th anniversary since the show’s revival in July 2000. And with hundreds of classes and literally thousands of entries, this year’s show promises to be even bigger and better than ever.

A special thank you this year to all the Show’s loyal sponsors, supporters and volunteers for your outstanding help. It is wonderful to know that, even if these more difficult times, there are people who continue to support their local Show. A special message of thanks must go to Felim Gurn, Gurn’s Milestone Bar, Manorhamilton, principal sponsor of this year’s event.

The 2012 Manorhamilton Show offers something for everyone from exhibits to music, pet shows to best dressed and even a tug of war competition.

Of course the major classes for Cattle, Horses, Sheep, Home Industry and Arts and Crafts have continued to attract thousands of entries in 2012 and is it any wonder why with over €10,000 in prize money this year.

The field will open to all exhibitors at 8am and all exhibits must be in place by 10am. Members of the public are welcome from 9am with judging commencing at 11am. Marquees will be open to visitors at the conclusion of judging from 1.30pm where all other entries can be viewed.

There are a number of major qualifiers on offer at this year’s Manorhamilton Show with the Irish Draught Breeders Championship and Western Region Irish Draft Foal Championship.

The line up also boasts the All-Ireland Suckler Heifer Qualifier; non-pedigree Suckler Cow and Calf All-Ireland Qualifier; Leitrim Non-Pedigree Calf Male Qualifier and the Connaught Non-Pedigree Commercial Calf Qualifier, to name but a few in the Cattle section.

In the Cookery Section there is a qualifier in the Odlums All-Ireland Home Cooking Championship while the All Ireland Female Bantam Chicken Championship will be the highlight of the Poultry Section.

Of course this year sees the return of the popular pet section with judging to commence at 2pm. Don’t forget you can enter your pet on the day as well.

All field competitions and events will begin at 3.30pm. The Tug Of War will be returning this year as will the Best Dressed Man, Best Dressed Lady and the Young Farmer and Young Farmerette. There will also be plenty of live music in the field and lots to keep the kids entertained.

Mystery Man Competition

Don’t forget to get your entry in for this year’s Mystery Man Competition.

The Clues are in the Show Catalogue or you can buy and entry form from the show office on Show day. Entry is just €2.

There are three clues to solve. To get you started the first clue is as follows:

There are a total of 12 spot prizes with the first correct entry securing a prize to the value of €300.

The day’s events will be rounded off in fine style with a Show Disco in the Bee Park Community Centre from 11.30pm with DJ, Gazza. There is also a full bar licence on the night.
