Next Tuesday sees the staging of this year’s National Ploughing Championships at Heathpark, New Ross in County Wexford. This year, demand for exhibition space has been at a record high with over 1200 exhibitors displaying their products or services over the three days.
Putting the scale of the event into perspective, if a visitor wanted to visit every stand, they would have to attend the event for three days as it would take 20 hours while spending just one minute at each stand. The main attraction at the championships still remains to be machinery with many top brands taking exhibits at the event. For example, tractor enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice with displays, demonstrations and advice from brands such as New Holland, Massey Ferguson, Landini, Case IH, Claas, Zetor and Kubota.
Other main attractions include exhibitions in areas such as livestock, lifestyles and leisure, information technology, educational agencies and colleges, hotels and tourism and agri-business.
This year marks the tenth staging of the championships in County Wexford and the bandstand line-up will feature much of the local talent. During the three days, visitors will be entertained by local Irish Dancing schools, mummers, folk groups, dramatic societies, choirs and many other musicians along with some of the more nationally known entertainers.
Large visitor numbers in excess of 180,000 are expected to visit and in accommodating this influx of visitors, several hundred acres of free car parking spaces are currently being prepared surrounding the event site. The event entry fee also remains extremely good value with admission for adults at €20, Students and OAPs at €15 and children under 12 (accompanied by an adult) go for free.
A 30% discount is available for pre-booked student groups and a 10% discount for pre-booked adult groups. For more information and booking, contact 059 8625125 or visit www.npa.ie.
