Coillte, Ireland’s largest natural resources company, has been awarded Ruban d’Honneur status at the European Business Awards 2012/2013. This award follows Coillte’s selection as National Champion representing Ireland in the Environment and Corporate Sustainability Category.

The European Business Awards recognise and reward excellence, best practice and innovation in companies across the Europe. In total 100 businesses from 28 countries across Europe have been chosen as Ruban d’Honneur recipients, picked for their business accomplishments as well as their dynamism, focus and ethical standards.

David Gunning, Chief Executive of Coillte said “Coillte’s purpose is to enrich lives locally, nationally and globally through innovative and sustainable management of natural resources. Receiving the Ruban d’Honneur is a robust endorsement of Coillte’s commitment to sustainability, which is at the heart of Coillte’s businesses in forestry, panel products manufacturing, renewable energy and land management. The award demonstrates that Coillte is perceived internationally as a leader in sustainability and innovation. “

Coillte exported some €150m of innovative wood products to 32 countries in 2012.

Coillte will now go forward to compete in the final of the European Business Awards to be held in Dusseldorf, Germany on February 19th and in April 2013 the overall European Business Award winners will be announced.
