Teagasc Forestry Clinic in Mohill

A nationwide series of forestry clinics for people who are considering planting forestry on the farm has been organised by Teagasc’s Forestry Development Department. A Forestry Clinic will be held on Wednesday 30 January in the Teagasc office in Mohill.

Steven Meyen, Forestry Adviser with Teagasc said; “The first step in making an informed decision on forestry as an enterprise is to become familiar with the issues involved. Planting land can have many attractions, but you need to know if it is appropriate for you. Teagasc can provide the information, experience and advice necessary to assist in the decision making process.”

He added; “Similar clinics held in 2012 were very well attended, with a range of issues being explored, such as land suitability, environmental compatibility, interaction of forestry with other farm schemes, andpotential returns on investment.”

Farmers and landowners considering the merits of a forestry enterprise are invited to attend these freeclinics in local Teagasc offices throughout the country. They will provide a great opportunity to avail of a one-to-one consultation with an experienced Teagasc forestry adviser.

Financial returns from forestry are central to decision making for many landowners. During a consultation, Teagasc forestry advisers can provide financial advice on afforestation and management scenarios using a forestry investment programme. The information provided can help to guide decisions about forestry as a viable enterprise and future forest management options.

This Clinic will take place in the Teagasc office in Mohill between 10am and 4pm. Prior booking is essential. Please ring Mary on 071 9631076 to make an appointment.

This is an ideal opportunity to get answers to your forestry questions – don’t miss it.
