Sometimes we need to cross some water to feel that we are on holiday and away from the daily stresses, to be able to truly relax.
Lusty Beg Island allows you to break away from the mainland, it transports you to stunning landscape, natural well being, luxury accommodation and fine dining - and all this is just over an hour away on Boa Island in Co Fermanagh.
During a recent stay which was blessed with beautiful weather, we really felt like we were on another continent, far away from the usual hotel breaks we know of in Ireland.
As soon as you drive onto the ferry (which is exciting itself) you get the feeling this secluded place is special. The island consists of a variety of accommodation options, situated around the main resort building with a restaurant, bar, bedrooms and facilities.
A two minute ferry trip allows you to wave goodbye to the daily 9-5 and begin your new island life!
Our chalet looking out on to the majestic Lough Erne was a delight inside. The cosy one bedroom with en suite, table, kitchenette and living area decorated in rustic and natural tones really persuades you into that kick back mode. We gasped as we looked at a map of how big the island is, and set out to discover it right away.
Some visitors had docked their boat at the quay and were already starting a sing along on board, guests were barbecuing on the deck of their cabin and others were setting off for a crisp evening walk - what an atmosphere!
The nature trail is just over an hour long, it winds through the historic woodland and allows you look outs on to the water and surrounding islands.
Wildlife, nature and beauty are intertwined making the walk fascinating, fun and romantic.
We arrived for dinner with a healthy appetite and our palettes were rewarded with bountiful delicious dishes.
As well as the nature trail and the Island spa you can play football, take a swing on the tennis court, try out archery, off road driving, clay pigeon shooting, boating, fishing or just sit back and relax on Lusty Beg Island, Co Fermanagh.
