This Summer Leitrim Arts Office is offering current and future members of Leitrim Youth Theatre Company a unique opportunity for any young person who may someday see themselves having a career in theatre or film.

On Saturday, June 30 LYTC is holding auditions in the Dock, Carrick-on-Shannon for the play ‘Chatroom’ by Enda Walsh which will be directed by renowned theatre director Mikel Murfi. ‘Chatroom’, with a cast of six teenagers, was described by The Times as “A 60 minute masterpiece, a computer-age Lord of the Flies. The writing is taut, vivid, cool, scary and often funny.”

The rehearsals will follow a professional theatre rehearsal programme and the show will play in the hometown of each LYTC branch, in Carrick, Manorhamilton and Carrigallen.

It promises to be the most exciting event of the Youth Theatre calendar.

It’ll be fun and doubtlessly full of Drama! It’ll need commitment in terms of time and energy. And for those who’ve got what it takes, it’ll be a very rewarding experience! There is no fee to participate in the Summer Programme.

Rehearsals for the play will be primarily in the Dock, in two blocks from July 21 – 28 and from August 13 – 22.

The production will preview on August 23 and will play in the Dock on August 24, The Cornmill Theatre on 25th and The Glens Centre August 26.

If you are between the ages of 14 and 18 and interested in auditioning for ‘Chatroom’, please contact Christine at Leitrim Arts Office on (071) 9621694 or email: ckelly@leitrimcoco.ie before Wednesday, June 28.
