The Fun Company brings “Les Misérables” to the Hawk’s Well stage from September 6.

The Fun Company will take to the stage for the opening night of the world’s longest running musical – “Les Misérables”. Seen by over 57 million people in more than 40 countries worldwide this is a first for Sligo.

This legendary musical tells the epic story of struggle against adversity in 19th century France. Imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread to save his sisters family from starving, Jean Valjean is released from his 19-year jail term and not only becomes an honest man, but the mayor of a prosperous town and a loving adoptive father - violating his parole in the process. The unyielding Inspector Javert, who makes a decent life for Valjean impossible, relentlessly pursues him. Only years later, Valjean proves himself during a student uprising and saves the life of a young man hopelessly in love with Valjean’s adopted daughter. He is then at last fully redeemed. The Fun Company’s production of “Les Misérables School Edition” ™ will run for 6 nights from Tuesday September 6th until Sunday September 11th.
