Rossinver trainee jockey graduates from RACE

Elaine Rooney from Rossinver was among the twenty five young people who graduated from the FÁS Trainee Jockey programme at the Racing Academy & Centre of Education (RACE) this month and will be taking up employment in the industry shortly.

Elaine Rooney from Rossinver was among the twenty five young people who graduated from the FÁS Trainee Jockey programme at the Racing Academy & Centre of Education (RACE) this month and will be taking up employment in the industry shortly.

Ms Rooney was among the group who successfully completed the ten-month residential programme and were presented with their certificates by RACE chairman John Oxx at a ceremony on the Kildare campus.

This year’s graduates received a full FETAC Level 4 award in Vocational Studies plus a certificate in French language and eighteen of the group were also successful in achieving a bronze Gaisce award.

Elaine is commencing work with Curragh trainer Michael Halford.
