Drumshanbo has been left exhausted after a very successful hosting of Leitrim County Fleadh.

The fleadh opened on Thursday and continued right through to Sunday night, with music, singing, dancing and great craic.

Children and adults played, danced and sang their hearts out, some excelled in the competitions and some exceeded in the various sessions around the town.

One man who certainly excelled was Padraig McManus who received the Lifetime Achievement Award by Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann during the Fleadh

“Padraig plays, smiles, laughs, sings and jokes and entertains” the crowd heard who gathered to see the presentation heard.

Padraig has devoted his life to Irish Traditional Music, singing and playing his fiddle and keeping the session going in his own pleasant way.

Padraig received a gold medallion and certificate in recognition of the service and dedication to the objectives of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann and the promotion of Ireland’s native culture. Senator Paschal Mooney of the Drumshanbo branch presented the award.
