Katherine Lynch to record Folk Album

Well known Mohill comedian Katherine Lynch is moving away from her popular ‘Shelia Chic’ and other characters to record a folk and traditional album using poems she wrote with her late father Tom Lynch.

Well known Mohill comedian Katherine Lynch is moving away from her popular ‘Shelia Chic’ and other characters to record a folk and traditional album using poems she wrote with her late father Tom Lynch.

n a recent interview Katherine said she is half way through the album which includes songs written by her and her late father about being lost and found. Tom Lynch died in January 2011 after battling with Parkinson’s disease. Katherine has named her late father as her “inspiration” for entry into show business.

This is a different path for Katherine than expected but she feels she needs to record this album to move on.

Katherine will be returning to comedy soon and is understood to be writing a new show for Irish TV in the Autumn schedule.

She is attending the New York Film Academy over the Summer months.

Katherine is known for several television series broadcast on RTÉ Two: Working Girls (January 2008), Wonderwomen (September 2008), in which she plays a variety of unusual characters such as Singin’ Bernie Walsh, Liz Hurley (based in Mohill) and Shelia Sheik, Single Ladies and her most recent Wagon’s Den comedy chat show.

Katherine was also a bainisteoir in the second series of Celebrity Bainisteoir in 2009 when she managed Dromahair GAA club.
