The poignant photo of Sean Quinn’s empty chair with a lonesome picture of the former tycoon sitting on it made it into the news awards.

The photo by Jonathan Porter showed was entitled ‘The Directors Chair” and showed former billionaire Sean Quinn’s chair at his office at the Quinn Group HQ, Derrylin, Co Fermanagh, it was taken not long after Anglo took over the company.

In the politics stakes, Brian Farrell freelance photographer made it to the exhibition with his photo of Frank Feighan putting up an early election poster in the wilderness of North Roscommon.

The photo entitled ‘Photo Wilderness’ shows Frank Feighan out on the campaign trail putting up a poster on Kilronan Mountain Raod, Ballyfarnon, Co Roscommon. Frank put the poster up before the allocated time allowance for election posters.

The AIB photojournlaism Awards Exhibition will be travelling the country during 2012.
