Spring clean your home

The days are longer and, unfortunately, one of the first things the Spring sunshine shows up is just how much your home would benefit from a very thorough Spring clean!

The days are longer and, unfortunately, one of the first things the Spring sunshine shows up is just how much your home would benefit from a very thorough Spring clean!

Don’t despair however, there is a plan of action which will help you tackle the jobs as quickly as possible.

Make a list

Make a list of everything that has to be done and tackle each room individually. You will feel a real sense of achievement by ticking off each job as it is completed. Remember, you won’t be able to complete everything in a day, it’s better to tackle a few jobs every day for a week than rush through them all in a day.

Delegate

They helped to create the mess so don’t let your family get away without having to do their fair share of the cleaning. Even young children can be asked to tidy up their rooms!

Have everything to hand

There is nothing worse than starting a cleaning project only to run out of something half way through. Plan your shopping to include any products you will need before tackling the spring clean.

Don’t forget the windows

Windows are often neglected but they are the one area we’ll notice the dirt collecting, especially on a sunny day when there’s no escaping the grime. Wash windows inside and outside - with a warm soapy solution and use a proper squeegee to take away the suds for a sparkling finish.

Professional help - for your furnishings!

Get your carpets, couch and rugs professionally cleaned if possible for a really fresh look and finish. If you can’t stretch this far then buy a made for purpose product and test a patch before using it on the entire item. Always follow the instructions to the letter to avoid damaging your soft furnishings.

Get organised

It’s not enough to get your home clean, you have to get organised to ensure that you don’t see the clutter piling up after all your hard work. See our article on de-cluttering your home to get you started.
