Get Fit Challenge Diary

We continue this week with the diaries of Stephanie McTiernan, Mary Faughnan and Michelle Reilly on their journey of weight loss and improved fitness. The three ladies are taking part in a six month fitness challenge with free personal training and fitness classes by Siofra O’Connor and Dave Hanley.

We continue this week with the diaries of Stephanie McTiernan, Mary Faughnan and Michelle Reilly on their journey of weight loss and improved fitness. The three ladies are taking part in a six month fitness challenge with free personal training and fitness classes by Siofra O’Connor and Dave Hanley.

The ladies exercises every day, some even take on two periods of exercise such as personal training and a fitness class. The girls take part in open classes with D&S Fitness and also personal training each week. The ladies completed a 5km charity walk last week in aid of Sligo Hospital and the three are aiming to walk 10km at the end of this month.

Name: Michelle Reilly

Weight loss so far: 30.5 pounds.

Biggest challenge last week: Returning back to college - I found it very tough.

Proudest moment last week: Trying out new classes in college like the steps, bums and tums.

Favourite exercise: The 5k walk on Sunday with the Get Fit girls.

Dietary tip: Make sure to eat your protein for exercising.

Exercise tip: Drink plenty of fluids.

Next goal: To be down between 5-6lbs.

Name: Mary Faughnan

Weight loss so far: 21.5 pounds.

Biggest challenge: I did a 15k cycle.

Proudest moment: 10k cycle in 35 minutes .

Favourite exercise: Walk around Carrick with Stephanie.

Dietary tip: Eat every two to three hours.

Exercise tip: Make sure and warm up and cool down after all exercise.

Next goal: To be down between 5-7lbs.

Weight loss so far: 17 pounds.

Biggest challenge: The 5k walk - with shin splints.

Proudest moment: Finishing the 5k walk!

Favourite exercise: Walk with Mary around Carrick.

Exercise tip: Make sure that you do the exercise correct, so you do not injure yourself.

Neat goal: To be down between 5-7lbs.
