It is often said the best remedy for defeat is to play a game straight away and that is the situation Leitrim find themselves in ahead of the Connacht Ladies Championship.

After Sunday’s defeat to Waterford in the Division 3 semi-final attention now turns to Sligo on Saturday in Coola at 3pm.

Speaking last Sunday Leitrim manager Martin Dolan rued injuries in the camp but is looking forward to Saturday.

“We had three fitness tests this morning for Sarah McLoughlin, Sharon Kerrigan and Deirdre Ward. Deirdre was unable to start, the other two were given the green light ,” adding, “We hope they will be ok for next week.”

With little time to recuperate Martin said training this week won’t be too demanding. “It won’t be too hectic on Wednesday night (tonight), a lot of the girls worked hard out there. We’ll prepare for the Sligo game, we’ll be warming them up fairly gently. We’ll go back and prepare on Wednesday and Friday and hopefully get a victory over Sligo.”
