In the aftermath of two sendings off last Sunday, Wicklow manager Mick O’Dwyer believes that the influence of referee assessors is ruining Gaelic football which should be allowed to return to more traditional values.

The legendary Waterville man was not happy with the instructions given out to referees but felt they are as much of victims as players – “They (referees) are given orders and they are carrying out the orders to a tee which I think is not a good thing for our game to be honest.”
