Manager Martin Cunniffe vowed last Saturday that Leitrim hurlers will keep their Lory Meagher Cup hopes alive with victory over Warwickshire next Saturday in Birmingham.

Speaking after a ten point loss to Sligo last Saturday, Martin acknowledged that Leitrim must win to keep their hopes alive - “I’m fairly confident that we will fight back and we will be back after the game ends on Saturday.

“It’s all about picking ourselves up now for the Warwickshire match, we have to pick ourselves up at training on Wednesday, we’re flying out Friday. Whoever wins is back and whoever loses is just gone.”

The Leitrim manager pointed to a lack of luck for the loss to Sligo - “We’re disappointed with the result, we came here to win, we put a lot of work into it and things didn’t go right on the day and that’s sport.

“We competed in the first half and into the second for ten or 15 minutes but after that, Sligo got on top and got a few goals. A goal or two can turn the game around and really that is what it was.”
