You’d have thought that the Fenagh Gortletteragh management would have been down in the dumps having seen a three point lead evaporate in injury time of last Sunday’s Minor Final but Padraig Flynn was instead the essence of positivity.
Admitting that the ending was disappointing, the Fenagh clubman nevertheless took a lot of positives from the underdogs display – “Disappointing at the end, definitely but at the same time, it is all to play for the next day.
“There was nothing between the teams and I think in fairness, a draw may have been the fairest result at the end. In fairness to Manchan’s, they didn’t give up, we were ahead all of the way through and in fairness to them, they stuck at it and stuck at it all the way to the end and it is set up to be a decent replay.
“Their two goals at the end of the first half gave them an opportunity to get back into the game but at the same time, our lads stuck to it, they held them out to the end and any game that goes to the wire like that, look it, what can I say, it is set up to be a great replay.
“We had a lot of good performances all around the field, a lot of lads stood up to the mark today but we need to regroup and get ready for what will hopefully be a good cracking replay, and hopefully, it will be the same as today. It was played in good sportsmanship all the way through and it was a good day for football in Leitrim.”
