Manachan’s lucky to get another chance

Having seen St Manachan’s secure a draw with the last kick of the game Mohill GAA club chairman, Padraig McLoughlin, was honest in his assessment of the minor final when he said, “We were very lucky to get a draw. Fenagh/Gortletteragh were a lot stronger and all I can say is hopefully next time we will be better.”

Reflecting on the game Padraig revealed St Manachan’s slow start may have been as a result of complacency and is hopeful that doesn’t happen again in the replay.
“We got a very bad start, there might have been a bit of complacency because we beat them earlier on in the Championship by 10 points so the lads might have thought it was going to be an easier game. Hopefully we can redeem ourselves in the replay.”

Padraig reserved a special word of praise for the player whose lethal free, deep in injury time, ensured the sides finished level saying, “Keith Beirne was on an U-14 player last year and he is an exceptional talent and we weren’t a bit surprised that he did what he did.”
