Just a few months after contesting the Division 3 League Final, Leitrim find themselves in the last chance saloon when they travel to Limerick next Saturday for their final group game in the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Ladies Championship.
With a venue yet to be fixed, all Leitrim know is that they have to record a win and wait to see what the scoring differences are from the other games to see if they advance to the knock-out stages.
With Fermanagh leading with six points and Wicklow level on points with Leitrim but ahead on scoring difference of plus 11 to Leitrim’s minus six points, Leitrim must win and win big if they are to advance to at least a second placed playoff encounter.
A Fermanagh win would do Leitrim most good, particularly a large one as Wicklow’s scoring difference would be substantially reduced. A big Wicklow win may also suffice as it would reduce Fermanagh’s scoring difference as well but the first and only onus is on Leitrim to win.
It won’t be easy as Limerick have always proved tough opponents but despite seeming to lose some of the pre-season form, Leitrim would be strong enough to come through on Saturday.
