Leitrim’s spirit and self-belief remains strong according to manager Sean Hagan as the Green & Gold prepare for the daunting task of taking on Down next Sunday in the All-Ireland Qualifiers in Newry.
With a 2 pm throw-in time in Pairc Esler, Sean feels that there is a positive spirit in the county senior squad, something he puts down to the influx of new players in recent weeks.
“There is a different level of freshness with the new players in the squad and I believe that the spirit and the belief remains in this team.
“If we can reproduce the form we showed in the second half against Roscommon, we’ll be looking for that for the full 70 mins. Realistically, nothing less would be sufficient on the day against Down.”
And Sean is delighted that a clash with Leitrim’s Connacht Minor Championship clash has been avoided - “It is great that there isn’t a clash with the Minor game and I’d appeal to supporters to come out, travel to Newry, make it a family day out and support the County team.”
